July 9th, 2012 Letter

Hello Family!

I just got an email from my last companion on Palawan, things have been going really well. There have been 6 baptized since I have left who we had found and taught. And I was super excited to hear about them, as well as see the pictures that were sent in. The second picture is a family we found also, the grandma and the mom are both members, and the rest of the family will be getting baptized in 12 days from now there are 6 in their family who will be getting baptized as a complete family. We met them through asking a less active if they knew any other less actives and we did not think they would be getting baptized because the church they were attending was paying for their schooling, and they are a pretty poor family. But they felt the spirit and decided to come to church, and they have been coming as a family for weeks :)

I am super excited! They always get baptized after you leave the area... That is alright though, I am still super excited!

Love,

July 2nd 2012 Letter

Hello Family!

I did get the package! And I ate some of it, I ended up giving more away than I actually ate. It was super delicious though! I need the recipe, because I have an oven!

This last week was transfer week, it was really busy and we did not have very much time to work in our area. We have decided that we want to baptize 4 people this month. We are not sure how we are going to do it, there are 6 potentials, but 4 of them said no, 1 is going out of town, and we have not invited the other one to be baptized yet. So we are trying to figure out how to do it. We are excited though and have planned well, and will execute the plan, starting later today. We are going to teach in the house of a former Miss Philippines Winner's home, she is a member of the church and gave us a referral. That will be on Wednesday.

I saw some missionaries I met in the MTC. I saw them outside of the temple, it was really exciting. They were my zone leaders in the MTC. Elder Stover and Elder Heather.

Nothing really super exciting happened this week, I got pulled over a few times, for things that I am not sure were even illegal. I think they were just trying to get money out of the American driving. I did not get any tickets, or have to pay anything, but it was a little bit frustrating, I have a goal to not get pulled over again. :)

I do not have a whole lot more to say... This week will be awesome though, I will have some stories to tell soon!

Thank you Kaity for emailing me! I need to talk to you in December! I got you something!

I love you family!

Are You an Elder? June 29th, 2012 Letter

Hello!

This is our success story of the month! We are trying to have at least 1 big one like this every month, and so far things are going well.

I love you,  I know you already heard this story but I thought you might like to see the pictures too!

Are You an Elder?

We just finished teaching a family and we are walking outside on the way to our next appointment. We went to our van and grabbed the door but suddenly we felt a prompting to just walk. We decided to follow the prompting and so we did. We’ve walked a considerable distance around the block already when we heard a voice yelling at us. It’s a young boy at about 15 years of age chasing us, he paused and asked, “Are you an Elder?”. We said yes then he exclaimed, “Come, follow me…my Mom is less active and I want you to baptize me right now”. Shock and surprised, we followed Lucky into their home.
We met the mother, Sis. Annabele and her youngest daughter, Jessica. The mother was a member since she was a child but has been less active for the past 20 years. She always tells stories to her children about the church and she always asks them to call the Elders whenever they see them. That’s why her eldest son, Lucky, chased us. Sister Annabele wanted a change in her life. She has been praying that one day one of her children will see the Elders. We are happy and grateful to be an answer to that prayer. We taught the children and they started to come to church. Sis. Annabele “returned” last June 10, 2012. We took them to the temple last June 23, 2012 and the children were baptized on the same day as well. They’ve been reading their Book of Mormon every night as a family. We are currently working on the father and he’s making good progress as well. There has been a big change in this family. They became happy.
We’ve come to realize that every person needs the gospel in their lives and Heavenly Father really is starting to touch the hearts of our less active brothers and sisters. It is a testimony to us as well that we can baptize and rescue at the same time. We just need to be sensitive to the Spirit’s promptings and be ready to act when it comes.
